  • Sophia Zegar, 8, asks her father Sergio if the photo she found in their yard was theirs. It wasn't. Sophia, Sergio and his sister were home when the storm hit. After hearing the sirens and warnings on TV they took refuge in the bathroom in their basement. {quote}I think God's hand was protecting it,{quote} Sergio said of the room.

Gregory Jonas, who was shot and killed nearlier that day in the Ernest Smith Senior Apartments in Centreville.{quote}How could somebody do this to him. All he ever tries to do is help somebody out,{quote} McNamee said of her stepfather.
  • A St. Louis police officer looks into the truck where a person was shot around 9:30 am at the corner of Theodore Avenue and Alcott Avenue. The victim was taken by ambulance to hospital. At present the police said it is unclear what happened.
  • Carmen Little (in brown jacket) gets a hug from her friend Kara Lentz. {quote}We saw it touch down across the road and just had enough time to get in our crawl space,{quote} Little said of the tornado that tore through the area and damaged their home. According to the National Weather Service offices in Weldon Spring there were 17 distinct reports of tornadoes Tuesday.
  • Yvonne Pierce walks out of her house as Kathryn Pierce stands and looks at the hundreds of documents spread across the lawn at Yvonne's home on Haddington Court in Clayton. The front lawn was covered in hundreds of wet family documents that were recovered from the flooded basement and layed out to dry.  Pierce said their street flooded Sunday morning when the sewer backed up during the storm.

  • A Belleville police officer investigates the scene where a robbery suspect was found hiding under a mobile home.According to Belleville detective  Mark Hefferman, Police received a call around 6:40 am Monday morning about a robbery at the Circle K in Belleville. Police identified the car involved and attempted to make a traffic stop. The car fled and both suspects were found in unincorporated Collinville. One suspect was arrested without incident, the other was found under a mobile home in the 3200 block of University Street.
  • Don Keith, of Piedmont, looks over the broken concrete from the private road that led to his house off South Main Street in Piedmont. Keith, who lived on the property for 40 years, said this is the worst flooding he's seen. {quote}It's just one of them things,{quote} he said as he walked back to his house after checking for his mail. Piedmont, a town of 2,000 resident, was flooded when the McKenzie Creek rose above its banks yesterday.
  • State Rep. Don Calloway Jr., D-Bel Nor was charged with second-degree robbery after grabbing a district checkbook from a table and tossing it to someone when secretary Yolanda Fountain Henderson tried to grab it back. He said he was trying to read the name of the bank so he could ask a judge to freeze the severance payments approved Sunday afternoon at the emergency meeting of the The Northeast Fire District Sunday afternoon in Beverly Hills. The board voted to approve severance agreements with the board's attorneys Elbert Walton Jr. and Bernard Edwards Jr. and Fire Chief Joe L. Washington. The severance totaled more than $730,000.
  • House keepers at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton wait together outside their buidling after an explosion in the parking garage forced them to evacuate the building.
  • {quote}It's really, really, really, bad,{quote} Frances Choat tells her insurance adjuster as she stands outside her home on Dawn Avenue in Granite City. Choat had just gotten home from Good Friday church service when the storm came through. The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF2 tornado touched-down near Granite City.
  • Natalie Lamkemeyer, 9, stands on the Uhaul truck next to her mom Kathy Sunday as they look through things they want to take with them after they were forced out of their home by the flooding of the Big River in Jeffereson county.  The family got the truck to move their possesions from the first floor of their home and parked it at a friends house on higher ground to keep it safe.
  • Crista Griffin Hatcher, 9, holds onto a pink balloon before releasing it during the Mary Meachum Freedom Crossing Celebration Saturday at the Mississippi River. Angela da Silva, of the National Black Tourism Network and professor of American Studies at Lindenwood University, said the balloon release symbolized the souls of the many slaves who crossed the river to freedom. {quote}We have to remember the past in order to move forward,{quote} she said.
