Twelve-year-olds Lacey McCray, Amahjanee' Patterson, Airriona McCray, and Tamijah Murphy crowd onto the teeter-totter on the playground across the street from the Christian Activities Center in the Olivette Park neighborhood in East St. Louis. A bar used to occupy the land where the playground sits. In 2005 the CAC purchased it with the hopes of adding the playground and the eventually a fine arts center and a dormitory for volunteers.
